Bringing home the harvest...... by happypat

Bringing home the harvest......

I looked out from the back garden today & saw this tractor & trailer coming up towards the barns loaded with straw bales. They have been combining all week & have been so lucky with the weather.

You can see the rest of the fields are full of maize crop which has its tassels on so will soon be ready for cutting.
There are two smudges on this photo....the screen must have had sticky finger marks!!

Three good things:
1. Great harvest weather for farmers.
2. Found a good travel counsellor who is sorting out our more complicated holiday plans for next year.
3. A neighbour has just asked us if we fancy a bit of pigeon....never tried it but I'm willing!

A beautiful sign of Autumn , with the harvest gathered safely in , the only blot on the landscape is the pylon and cables -- but then that is progress and a necessity in todays life !! fav !

Fantastic shot. Must be great for you and Harry to be able to keep an eye on the local farming scene without the worry. Fav.

A lovely rural image. We are starting to get a bit warmer weather now - that's if you discount standing in the freezing cold, watching hockey in Taupo last weekend!

Beautiful - a bit behind ours I think but ours struggled with the wet weather I'm sure. V posh having pigeon - Samuel Pepys was always on about eating pigeon!

@judithg I haven't tried it before Judith but they are hanging in the outbuilding waiting to be plucked! We are out tomorrow & Thursday so will have to go in the freezer.

I've just had a quick go at getting rid of the pylons but I can't decide if the image looks a little too quiet now, it's a great shot by the way! - http://i.imgur.com/JOoqmP9.jpg

Looks much the same here at the moment. Took the dogs training last night and they were combining the next field so we were covered in dust . So great that the weather is holding. Love this picture Fav

Very nice scene. Strange to think they're harvesting with you when we're just seeing everything starting to grow here.

Love the finger marks - make this photo real and untouched! I have heard there is nothing like a bit of pigeon pie!
