We are having our house painted soon....you can see it's really ready for doing but it's an expensive job!
The painting team have been painting the Community Centre in the village so they dropped off this cherry picker so they could reach up & do our chimneys.
They are going to return & do the rest as soon as they can.
Three good things:
1. I have spent a really lovely three hours with my two UK grandchildren shopping for the last Uni stuff.
2. We called in at the cash & carry & their faces as we walked round the sweetie aisle!! Just a few to take away with them!
3. I just remembered that the sort of aisle I meant was not the Isle I spelt!
It will be a nuisance while it's being done but lovely when it's finished. I look forward to the 'after' photo. You should take it from the same place and post them side by side.
Waiting for a photo after the "Picking". Amzing machine, never saw one before. Your house looks very lovely and I'm sure it will look even better after the painting job
Will definitely take a photo when it's finished but might be a week or two yet. This job is only being done now while the machine is in the vicinity. It will be so white we'll have to wear our sunglasses!
What a novel way to get up to repair the chimney without having to put up a scaffolding - clever lads - using their initiatives -- no doubt they have done this before !! Lookng forward to seeing the spick and span & beautifully white house !(I assume it will be white !! lol )
Have you thought about making it cream? I've seen some oldies painted the cream instead of the white and it looks great! Not yellow cream but white cream. Its going to look super. You like being a sugar Mama? Not a sugar Daddy! Thats Harry's job!
@maggiemae well we never thought of changing the colour Maggiemae....it has always been that colour with black paintwork.it has white fencing too so I think Harry will prefer white....shall mention it though!
should be lovely when its finished. You have a lovely house. I think a big lolly bag each is a must for your grandchildren. That's what grannies are for!
@snaphappi I don't know much about the house really Maggie. We moved here 16 years ago & the house came with the farm,..I was lucky there as the house is the after thought! Some of it , the middle four rooms will be seventeenth century I would thin but it has been added onto many times, the roof is a nightmare ! This is only one side of it! Costing lots to paint!!
I love the glimpse of the man on the roof Pat. Nightmare the cost of repainting. Looks fantastic when it's done though. At least painters are not like builders they don't keep finding more jobs that you 'really should have done.' Hopefully they just get on and paint!
Ooh yes - painting the chimneys is always going to make the job expensive I imagine. We are waiting for our man to come but could do with a dry patch. Rachel went unexpectedly early in the end and was ferreting through Adam's bags complaining that he had new stuff and lots of food. I pointed out that her kitchen equipment was preloved quality and his is new but cheap! Honestly - sibling rivalry - I've only got so much spare stuff! I used to love the sweet aisle and the C&C when we ran school discos in the days that the kids were allowed to buy sweets. Now it has to be popcorn and carrot sticks!
