Milking time by happypat

Milking time

Two hundred & fifty cows cross the road on their way to the milking shed this afternoon.

William getting his cows up for afternoon milking.
Before they cross the road he pulls a carpet across so that the road stays clean.
It did rain a little in the night & there were actually puddles this morning but nowhere near enough the rain they need.
It's been very cloudy & muggy all day today but a warm wind.
When I got out of the air conditioned car my glasses steamed up in the warm atmosphere!

Had a lovely meet up with two friends this morning, good to catch up with all the news.
Afterwards Lesley took me into Matamata.

Had a mass speaker on phone call with all the family back home in the UK this morning.

On to Taupo tomorrow.
Lovely rural scene.

Great to see this! What a hardworking lot these guys are! Not the cows - though they do a lot of the work! This is afternoon milking?

@maggiemae Think Pats camera is still set to UK time Maggie... Not many dairyfarmers are that silly to milk at 2.05am...

Red carpet I presume! A typical NZ image, although on very busy roads the farmers have to put in an underpass.

All merrily marching along.

My glasses have been steaming up here too at the moment, it is so humid.

Looks like a long wait for the motorist if they come at this time

A lovely rural scene with all the cattle going home to be milked -- thank goodness for milking parlours ( or whatever you may call them ) !!

a lovely scene and how thoughtful to cover the road to keep it clean

Wonderful farm shot! Reminds me of a railroad crossing. I'm wondering how long it takes for 250 cows to cross the road. How thoughtful of William to cover the road. Hoping that area gets more much needed rain. And how fun that you had a get together with friends. Sounds like you are having a wonderful time in NZ!

Lovely rural scene. How thoughtful he pulls a carpet across the road. Husband's reaction: wishing farmers in our country did the same.

The size of the dairy herds in NZ was one of the things that caught our attention when we were there.

I sure wouldn't want to have to milk 250 cows even with machines
