Knitting circle by happypat

Knitting circle

What a great way to spend an afternoon than sitting knitting & having a good old chin wag with friends.
Our nearest library in Garstang was so busy this afternoon.
A baby & mums group were singing & chatting, then this knitting club & lots of people browsing the papers & computers as well as us borrowers.
So different from my recollection of libraries in the fifties & sixties when all was hush & no talking allowed!

Sorry I have been very lax over this weekend with my commenting, thank you for still looking at my poor diary offerings.

Three good things:
1. More informal times in all aspects of our lives these days.
2. Harry's potatoes are through!
3. A good nights sleep! 😴

Wishing this could be organized in our local library, but it's too small, I'm afraid...

How good to find libraries used like this in the community . Since my eyes trouble and finding reading difficult I do not frequent our "new Library " which in a sense I miss !

Our local library has activities too. Especially for mums and toddlers.

@beryl You could borrow talking books Beryl, I believe they are really good & read by very talented actors & readers. My mum used to borrow them from the library.

I was at the library yesterday and as it is School holidays, it was buzzing. Mostly kids on computers!

It's lovely to see the library being used for such activities. Lots of libraries are being threatened with closure which is sad because they can be such an asset to the community

Remember when libraries were quiet boring places - a change for the better!!!

Nice to hear about your library - they all should be happy places! Thanks for your comments on my photos, Pat - I'm just about out of battery (my computer that is) otherwise I'd say more!

A lovely friendly scene. Our local library has lots of activities including film shows, family history searches on their computers, kids story time, our U3A meetings are held in the library complex. Tai chi and keep fit classes, a sewing group, kids dance classes plus lots more. It is quite a busy place.

This is terrific! Libraries are more like community centers now, it’s a lovely transition really.

Garstang! I had a pal who lived there. She's moved to Sheffield now but the name always makes me think of her. This looks a happy, social and friendly scene.

They are not in a circle, technically. FAV

Happy shot! At school our teacher announced a 'knit and natter' group starting that lunchtime... so many hands went up from boys and girls I was stunned and delighted for her!
