We were out last night & as we drove up the hill to our lane we could see big flames.
When we got home there were four fire engines parked down at the neighbours. Their workshop was on fire, not any old workshop but the very large complex housing a workshop, entertainment space where we have our lane parties but most importantly Simply Red the tractor pulling machine.
The firemen couldn’t get any water out of the hydrant, no pressure but eventually they went in Janet’s pond & put the fire out with that. Took them until 5am this morning.
It was scary to see & luckily they had a fire door between the workshop & Tractor shed.
The poor couple who have recently moved into the thatched cottage next door were on tenterhooks in case a spark went astray.
Three good things:
1. No one hurt & repairable damage although a terrible mess today.
2. More painting today....I am on a mission to get our house ready for selling!
3. Looking forward to the last episode tonight of Race Across the World.
Rather too bad that so much damage was done. So glad no one was hurt.
It does make for an exciting shot, though! (although I am sure you would prefer a more hum-drum photo to show).
Such a shame to have this happen and scary that no water was immediately available. Hopefully the water situation will be thoroughly checked on. You are a busy girl with your painting!
Yes we are moving!! Have to sell ours first before we actually move but we’ve bought a doer up bungalow with a massive south facing garden for Harry & his tractor shed.big plans that came out of the blue a month ago. Three quarters of a mile away & nearer the village. We think it’s a wise move but so very sad to leave this lovely house.
What a shock to see this on your way home ! , pleased to hear it can be repaired ,and I hope insured ! these things cost money . Wow ! Pat - so you are selling but pleased to read - not going too far .! Hope you will have a quick sale so that things will not be hanging over you for a long time !
...and you are moving! Look forward to new pictures but will be sad not seeing this beautiful house here. Good luck with all the 'getting rid of stuff you don't need!'
@onewing@jgpittenger Yes time to move on. Our tennants next door gave notice & we do t want to let it again. I looked on Right Move the next morning & saw a bungalow ready for doing up. It has an amazing long south facing garden...we need space around us so this one is perfect. We are going to spend quite a bit of money on it....open 0lan & modern but cosy if that makes sense....no beams in sight!! We are putting ours on the market as soon as tennants move out & after photos taken....they are using a drone too so should be interesting! Hope to goodness we sell over the summer, not good owning two houses!

Wow big things happening for you...
Are you selling, Pat? No more B&B activities?

You are moving? I guess your B&B days must be over. I am sure you will miss your house though.
