I went to B&Q the other day for some packing cases, there was quite an interesting display of hardwood flooring. We haven’t decided yet what flooring to have when eventually we manage to get in our new house but it’s interesting looking!
Three good things:
1. Picked up Alex & Simons hire car without too much hassle....they had moved again so I went to the wrong place first!
2. Charity shops.
3. I love all this political stuff on TV....I find the election process for our next prime minister quite fascinating.
I don't envy you all the decisions. I got tired of making them and asked my general contractor to pick out a few things and I was only remodeling the kitchen.
@julzmaioro@mave@joansmor I only wish we were up to choosing stuff....still no sale being completed as we are still in probate! We aren’t even allowed to go & have another look until we are able to sign up...it’s immensely frustrating!
@sarah19@brennieb Alex & Simon haven’t said they are cold but I am! They have come from New Orleans too but they say the trip here will acclimatise them for the NZ winter on their return!
Your new home might have good flooring hidden under carpets? Ours did but I didn't like wooden flooring for the sound as well as not being good insulation.
So frustrating being so near yet so far waiting to sign on those dotted lines ! So much choice - I am sure you will change your mind many a time ( if you're anything like me !! ) before making your final choice !
Yes this political stuff really intrigues me too in spite of not being very politically minded !
@maggiemae We’ve only been inside once but I have a feeling the floor felt very solid. I fancy a nice slate floor in big kitchen, Cathy has it in hers & it’s very nice. I will no doubt change my mind lots!
@beryl Yes it’s good looking but I don’t think wooden is an option really, trying to get completely away from the wood look in this house! I like Rory Stewart the best but whether he’s right this time I’m not sure....wish I had had a bet on him now! I did think of it but I’m not used to going into betting shops & our local one has closed down.
@onewing Completely frustrating Babs, it’s getting to be an issue now as we have the builders booked for August. We had booked the architect to meet us this week but now it’s next week as the estate agents have no one available to wait outside with the key while we look. It’s against the law fir us to go in without them there until we sign up & we can’t do that till probate is off!
@happypat I love to see wooden floors in these modern houses but we have parquet floors in the hallway and two living rooms ,(stained quite dark) -looked nice , but not at all cosy so all mine are carpeted over !
@beryl yes I’m quite liking wooden floors in modern houses but like you I do like a carpet in the cosy areas. I think we will be having a modern hard perhaps slate for in kitchen/living area but carpets everywhere else. I am old enough to remember carpet in the middle, Lino round the edges so always love a fitted carpet!
We went with wooden floor in kitchen, utility area and hallways. I love it. So easy to keep clean, and we also have underfloor heating which makes it a pleasure to walk on in bare feet in the mornings. Good luck with the choices. Sometimes it's easier if the choice is limited! Nice diary shot.
@rhoing Well this surprised me a bit…..so long ago! Thank you for your interest. We went for tiles in the end & underfloor heating. Great choice as the colour always looks clean & I just pass the mop over once a week. There will be a photo of the living area somewhere over the last couple of years on here .
Hope the young people are not feeling too cold!!!
Dutch King Willem-Alexander is on the List of Founder Knights now!
