I think the humble bicycle served the country so well in the war years. A very different mode of transport compared with the role it has in today’s sporty society.
So many cycles on the roads these days but mostly in a leisure capacity.
Three good things:
1. Harry has been to pressure wash Cathy’s outdoor furniture.
2. He stood downwind from all the spray flying so largely kept dry.
3. Peaceful protest.
This is clearly a period piece, but I love seeing folks on bikes in the towns. Having had the pleasure of visiting 14 european countries on my holidays this year. In the UK bikes are conspicuous by their absence. They are used in their thousands in many European countries where cycle lanes are plentiful.
Great shot. I would love to get a bike but traffic doesn't help around here. 30mph speed limit often ignored in front of our house. The Netherlands is amazing with bikes everywhere and family friendly too!
The upright stance on these bikes has become more popular with e-bikes etc. Long gone are those bikes so thin they have no shadow and you are bent double on them with your chin on the handlebars!
Yes I would love it if the UK was much more cycle friendly but our roads are so fast & dangerous....such a good & healthy way of traveling!
We have paths only for bicycles. I feel privileged...
Well spotted and taken!
