It’s quite interesting looking out of our third floor bedroom window to see how Phil is progressing with his house.
He’s up to the inside now & I know they are hoping to be out if the caravan you can see on the left by November.
You would never guess we used to milk cows in that building. Blackpool Tower is just visibly to the right of the roof line at the back of the trees.
We have come to the conclusion today that our cosy house is not in fashion in these days of open plan, large glass window houses.
All say it would cost too much to renovate...we think it’s pretty perfect as it is!
Three good things:
1. We were out early this morning feeding Gus our daughters cat. They are one of the holiday makers on a Thomas Cook package holiday in Majorca!!!
2. Our local Football team is doing well in the league! Another away win last Saturday.
3. Rugby watching in Japan.
Great roof view.. just see the tower.. wpuld if been easier for the man next door to buy hour place rather than convert the cowshed..
So far so good for both our RWC teams..
@julzmaioro well yes that would have been great but he bought this before ours was up for sale in fact we wanted to buy the barn but circumstances were against us at the time. He is open plan too so he wouldn’t want our house! Excellent news re team work, fingers crossed they can both go far ....we know yours will! He is doing it all himself!
Good to get out of the caravan by Nov if they can. I would prefer your house to glass and open plan. Hope your daughter is soon home safe. I would hate that situation.............
What a lovely view. Hope your wonderful cosy house is soon just right for someone.
The big open plan glasshouses have lots of light but I'm not sure if I could ever feel cosy in one!
A lovely look out point to keep an eye on things ! These open plan places are very nice to look at but no comfort and cosiness to live in ! I should think 1 Someone will appreciate it as it is one of these days Pat !
Oh you give me hope....it’s very down heartening to hear the same reason why they don’t buy....my sister said today, wait till it’s winter & they might be glad if cosines! I’m sure times will change back although I too love the family kitchen but my kitchen isn’t small.......
You are looking down a lot of different roof types and a really nice view in the distance. If you house is perfect like it is for you, who cares what the fashion is. Enjoy what you have.
@gijsje Thanks Bep, they aren't due back until Friday but it’s a worry, obviously people have commitments at home. Fingers crossed they get them home OK.
Great view. You would get sixpence every day with the view of Blackpool Tower. Whenever we went to Blackpool as kids Mum would say the first one to spot the tower gets sixpence.
I'm sure you can come up with several good reasons, not to renovate to open plan. Sound is one of them. Efficiency of heating is another. That's a fine building that he's renovating!
Oh the Thomas Cook affair is really terrible. Hope your family gets home without too much inconvenience. Our home is not open and white walled either, it doesn’t make sense to spend a ton of money on it in an effort to sell. We know we wouldn’t get our money back.
It's interesting how tastes change. When we sold our very traditional house in France, the young people who bought it ripped out all the terracotta tiles, painted grey over all the dark wood beams and doors and removed walls and added windows. I love what they did, but I also thought it was fine the way it was. I'm sure the right person will come along. I hope your daughter gets home ok - what a shame for all concerned.

Hope you find a buyer soon.
