I’ve been shopping today. This is our normally bustling village pretty empty.
You cant normally park anywhere specially on a Wednesday which is market day.
You can’t tell from this photo but on the right hand side is the butcher, off licence/newsagents/ post office. The fish & chip restaurant next then the Community centre. After that a ladies dress shop then a pub. Sticking out at the far end is Pebbys bakery then further down the plates studio.
On the left there is the beauty salon, dentist, cafe, architects & pizza parlour.
Round the back there is a small supermarket & behind me the little veggie shop, hardware shop & Zero One which is a plastic free sustainable living place.
We have an undertaker & a couple of hair salons also so no need to go anywhere else!
Shop local!
Three good things:
1. Everyone of the above shops serving the local community!
2. A little bit of much needed rain....it’s cold though!
3. A gift of two homemade meringues in exchange for some greaseproof paper...good deal for us!
Photo taken a couple of days ago but it looked just the same today.
Sounds like you do have it all.. if it was open.. down to level 3 now in NZ hardware stores and cafe/takeWays open for takeaway only.. so ztill nor worth while to worry about going to town.. our groceries are getting delivered..
@julzmaioro Yes level three is good Julz....takeaways open & coffee again! Hope it all works out for you in NZ & you continue to keep this horror at bay.
Sounds a lovely little village with everything you need. Level three doesn’t change anything for me as I am teaching from home and have no need to go out. Your wee village looks very quiet.
So lovely and clean , but like everywhere else ,deserted . A wet day and much colder today here too - great for the garden and a day for a rest for us ! .Reading your comment above I am alo enjoying the growth of my hair , but have trimmed my fringe and sides around my ears ! will like to see the results before my hairdresser calls again
Everywhere so quiet ..No noise when I sat in the field last week..was eerily quiet ..my hair getting past that funny straggly stage.not been this long for long time.but quite liking it..just the fringe
@beryl I haven’t rimmed my fringe yet, my last haircut was on the 21st February before we went to NZ & didn’t have as much as usual off because one wedding was as soon as we got there. It’s ok as long as I wash it regularly. I think we will have to have Lockdown hair photo in a while!!
It looks so quiet, isn't the world a strange place at the moment.
I am going to cut David's hair today. I used to always cut it and then a few years ago he discovered Just Cutz and it gave me a reason not to cut it any more. My hair is growing but I am not letting David loose on my hair.
@onewing Your story is my story. I managed to cut John's hair and made an attempt on his straggly beard, knowing he would protest. He did his beard with his shaver but its not as neat as I would cut it. When he goes to the hairdresser - they do a fantastic job!
Beautiful to see the road empty of vehicles. One thing I don't miss is going out and taking half an hour for a 2 minutes drive because of the traffic and then spend another half hour or more to find a parking, unless I lose heart and return home. Seems your area is self-sufficient.
