We have two builders doing our house.
This is Andy a retired farmer who used to milk cows. Quite a number of years ago he retired from full time farming & now works for Phil the main builder.
They are a great team & you can see Andy here carrying the slates onto the back of the roof.
We called in this afternoon & they had moved 18000 slates.
Not bad for a chap in his early sixties!
Three good things:
1. We have been to finalise the kitchen plan. Fairly sure we have only minor details still to plan.
2. Harry has had his other ear syringed....he is having lots of problems with his ears this year it seems.....another infection she says but the other guy he saw a few weeks ago never mentioned it!
3. A very nice new door knocker arrived in the post!
I am envious of your slate roof! It is going to be gorgeous! But I'm not envious of Andy moving all those slate tiles around - on a slanted surface - 20 feet off the ground. He's good!
I know you're pleased to have the kitchen design finalized. That involves so much decision making!
I hope Harry's ear is feeling better. Ear infections are no fun!
Thank you all.....I agree it’s not everyone’s cup of tea to be so high up & balancing on the roof struts! He laughed & said his legs would be jumping tonight with the strain of tension!
Looks fabulous Pat, what a big job! Re the ear, we have a waterpic - electric toothbrush and a tube which fires out a gentle water jet to clean between the teeth. (Sshh don't tell anyone but we have started using it as an alternative to having our ears syringed! It works a dream)
@peggysirk Thankfully it’s just a straightforward easy roof with only the porch at the other side sticking out.
We are excited & im quite enjoying all the spending at the moment....ha ha.
@bkp The weather has not been good in May Barbara....starts off beautifully but then torrential rain with thunder & lightening but they seem to still stay there & resume when it’s passed over. Sadly a small 8 year old boy was struck by lightening near us this week while on the football ground...such a tragic thing to happen...lightening us very dangerous.
