These thistles used to be a sight not to behold when we were farming. We did everything not to have any of these growing in our fields & we’re very critical of any neighbouring farmer that didn’t keep their thistles at bay.
Must admit though as I walked Connie this afternoon these looked rather pretty,
Three good things:
1. All back safely from the wilds of Scotland….. lovely wedding photos to look at…..
2. Fruit Salad sweets…so long since I had one of those!
3. Max was eleven yesterday….they are in Auckland for a couple of nights birthday treats.
One if the Northern Hemispheres imports we are not happy about.. but beauty if not on your/our farm.. Had forgotton about the fruit salad sweets.. loved them
Well they really are a pest on the farm, but easier to control than Californium thistle as long as you keep chipping them out. As kids we did love all the thistle ‘fairies’ they produce, like what you have shown. Wow - where have those eleven years gone?
They have their own charm in the right place but can really be a pest in the middle of a border!!
Much less cutting of verges and edges round here now...all in the interest of environment which is good.
We used to have fruit salad sweets in our shop when I was a child, they were red and yellow and chewy. I wonder if the ones you bought are the same.
