Tight fit

I got stuck behind this massive park home the other day. I was there for about 15 minutes while he backed & moved forward a little bit at a time trying to turn to the right down these narrow lanes.
Just opposite the Cartford Inn by the river is a new area made & around thirty of these park homes are being brought in to stand along the river.
I think they have delivered around twelve now…as they sell one they bring another in but it’s a tricky job. You can see Graham who lives in the house on the left out watching his roof!
We live just past here on the left.

Three good things:
1. A haircut.
2. It’s a cold damp November day but we are warm & cosy in our well insulated house.
3. I wore a scarf….I love scarves!
Oh my, that is a tight squeeze!

I have been stuck behind these before. Nothing you can do but mumble.

I can see why it took awhile

What a tight fit. I would be worried if it were my house!!

Great shot, I would be worried too if it was passing my house

A very tight squeeze! I bet your neighbour is out there every time one of these giants pass by!

@julzmaioro I remember that feeling…hair all droopy & into the back of your neck! When I saw your hair longer I liked it though.

Somehow I knew this would be yours ! So frustrating when you are nearly home !! I do not envy the driver manipulating these huge loads along the country lanes !

A very tight fit but I gues these guys are experienced. I sat behind an articulated truck the other day who was making a complete hash of turning around. There was plenty of room but he just didn't seem to know what to do. After I'd parked I walked along towards Waitrose and there he was again trying to get into a tight space. In the end he drove off and abandoned the delivery! I felt sorry for him really as it was a huge truck.

Hope you weren't in a hurry

@busylady It must be hard negotiating these massive loads…this guy just seemed to do it by jerking a few feet at a time forwards & backwards. Embarrassing if you can’t do it too!

@beryl I could actually have backed up at the start before other cars behind me as there are two entrances to this road but I was quite interested to see how he managed.

@bizziebeeme @pamknowler @carolmw

The hedges are very high which makes the road look even narrower, when they eventually turned right the road is even narrower….I expect all the cars coming towards this would have to get into house drives to let him pass.

Oh I hope that driver gets combat pay!

That is a very tight squeeze!! Sounds like a delightful little village in the making along the river.
I love scarves too. If my neck is warm, I'm happy.

I saw the other photo before I got to this one.

Brings a whole new meaning to moving house doesn't it. I bet the chap who owned it was a but nervous as well as the driver.

They look quite modern but must be quite small, these houses. A good driver is absolutely necessary!

great story telling Pat, I've seen the follow up photo, so I know the move was a successful one

Oh wow what a day
November 17th, 2021
Very precise driving needed. I’d have my heart in my mouth if the white house was mine.

A bit of a nerve wracking journey!

The drivers of these trucks amaze me how good they are to manoeuvre in such small space. Graham has a good reason to be wary and maybe also afraid his property may suffer damages.

Very tight squeeze!
