After we watched the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Harry & I took a walk down to the Cartford Inn, along side the river, across the fields, round the village & back home again.
It was just going dark by then, very early at the moment as it’s almost the shortest day.
Here is mummy swan swimming against the tide…het legs were flapping away as she swam. She has a teenager there too but it must be behind the tree.
In the distance you can see the toll bridge house.
Anyone going over the Cartford Bridge has to pay a toll…..cars 50p, bikes 20p, tractors, caravan & larger vehicles 75p I think. You can walk over free!
Three good things:
1. A controversial end to the race….some people won’t be happy!
2. Lovely to come back to a warm house with the tree lit & lamps on.
3. I climbed the step ladders & strung the cards up on the beams.
Beautiful evening scene Pat. I don' t mind the dark evenings so much but I will be glad when the mornings start to get lighter. I don't enjoy walking black dogs in the dark. Poor Cinders has to wear a collar that lights up otherwise I keep treading on her!!
A lovely early evening walk -- gets dark so early with the shortest day being the 21st Dec ! So good to be cosy at home in these dank dark evenings ! You are early stringing up the cards - I only posted mine yesterday !! Don't do yourself an injury falling off those steps ! be careful !!
@onewing Because it’s a private bridge Babs! There was another one with a busier road further up the river but that has been taken over by the council a long time ago.
It must cost you a fortune if you live on one side and work on the other. Why is it a toll bridge?
