I dragged the tall stepladders in yesterday & filled the beam up with Christmas cards. Covering both sides means there are only about ten to stand on the sideboard.
A shortest day of the year, they reckon 15 minutes lighter in the evening every week.
Three good things:
1. Been out for lunch at the cafe with Harrys Bowling club! Very nice company but the heating was broken, cold!!
2. Just had a very hot shower & in my PJs so now nice & warm!
3. A nice large stalk of Brussels Sprouts….should keep fresh for Saturday.
I wondered how you would make this big, open space feel comfy…well you certainly have achieved that…it is very inviting and warm looking…even if the woodstove isn’t up and running yet!
@bkp Thank you Barbara. I think it helps that we have our old farmhouse pine furniture still. We wanted it modern & open plan but not stark. We are very warm so not missing the wood burner but it would give a focal point _ we could turn down the little bit of heating we have on. The floor is warm!
Looks beautiful and festive Pat , Love your cards up on the beam ! ( do be careful on the step ladder ! ) I have put most of my cards as strips hanging down the walls . one more strip to hang when Gary is ready to oblige !!
@beryl has a good idea for cards that doesn't involve ladders! Them ladders be dangerous! You must be so proud of your new home - it looks fabulous and so nicely lit!
Beautiful shot. Brings many lovely memories of the time we sent and received Christmas cards which we used to hang like you did here. Nowadays our sent and received cards are all electronic.
And sounds like you had a good day....well except for the cold!!!
