High Street. Tractor Run. by happypat

High Street. Tractor Run.

Got there! As you can see not a massive crowd but there were more round the Square.
I just took three quick shots & ran back up the stairs to my teacake & hot chocolate.
The cafe lady had put our saucers on top of the cup to keep them warm.
Harry arrived just after me so all well.
Not as good a photo as I usually take of this event..it had only just got going so the tractors weren’t as close together.
Quite interestingly the large opticians you can see there used to be our HSBC bank…I used to go there every week when we were farming but in line with other banks they have closed this one & three more in Garstang
….not enough call for banks as people are banking online…they are forcing us to bank online!
Profit is all that matters!

Three good things:
1. Windows cleaned.
2. I made a cake!!
3. Books from the library van which comes & parks outside every three weeks. I got three books even though I mostly read my kindle. You never know 2hen I will be so glad of that visiting van. Use it or lose it!
Agreed, I'm always telling myself to use the library more. I don't use Kindles, but I buy a lot of books from charity shops.

@boxplayer I love libraries but also love my kindle as I can read it in the night if I wake up…easier to hold than a book too!

Well done! Our HSBC closed last year too. Luckily the post office near there acts more like a bank these days.

Good to see part two of the story.. And you got back to you HC and cake.
All the banks are closing here as well worse since covid but we're doing it before due yo on line banking and the 'Farmers cheque books is a thing of the past. FG dug his toes in as long as he could but we are now doing online banking.. and you can never see anyone one in person..

@julzmaioro We used to have a very large farmer cheque book. Too big as it was hard to get it in a pocket. Our main account is still cheque book bot it’s not used ver often now we are retired…the card is though! I do online banking in my little account & can transfer money all over!! 🤣. Sounds pretty much the same as here….we used to have a dedicated agriculture bank chap we could just ring up, now we have to go via Hong Kong & use voice recognition! 😳

It seems banks the world over are closing. Nice you managed to get a photo of the tractor and get back to finish your morning tea.

So good that they kept your coffee and buns fresh for you for after you returned ! nice to see the tractors coming all in a row !

Totally agree about the banking! I prefer a real person any day.
This tractor run thing looks lots of fun and quite the event for the town.

A lovely candid capture, and you are so right ... use it or lose it! We still have a bank in our village, but its opening hours are so curtailed and they are so understaffed that's it's a half day job to do a transaction there ... if you manage to get the right day and time!
