Booths in Garstang were painting the windows today….the artist was making a really nice display. She had to keep stopping as everybody was talking to her.
Three good things:
1. I’ve ordered the Christmas turkey! Last year I left it too late to order exactly the size we wanted.
2. I bought some plastic stick on hooks to hang our dressing gowns up on the bathroom door.
3. Starting a new book.
So lovely to see the young artist at work - this makes me feel more festive than all the glitter in the shops!
Well done you on getting started with the essentials of Christmas - they tend to forecast the scarcity of turkeys this Christmas due to Bird flue! I haven't decided what bird will grace our table this Christmas! but it will be bird of some sort!
@dide Yes so much easier to cook a summer meal although I don’t find a roast dinner such hard work…extras with Christmas of course but I usually do the turkey at our house & take it to daughters. Last year we were at ours but this year at daughters again. Good to share.
@beryl I do love the time before Christmas I must say…it’s the whole atmosphere….not like when the kids were little if course but lovely all the same. We miss our family of course so definitely a bitter sweet time.
It seems too early for Christmas windows, but I have already bought a few presents and also a frozen turkey in case there aren't enough turkeys to go round! Oh and I started a new book today too, it grabbed me from the first page - always a good sign. The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah
@busylady The Four Winds the best book Judith, it was so good I’m pretty sure I would have mentioned it on here. You will love it!
I have just started a book by Frank Gardner…never read one of his but it’s started off well.
I haven't cooked a traditional Christmas dinner since 1990. It was our first Christmas in Australia and Christmas day was 40 degrees c. Never again, ha ha. We usually have a barbeque now.
@maggiemae I don’t think turkeys are that popular in NZ are they maggie? I’m not that bothered myself about them to be honest…it’s tradition but my palette likes tastier stuff these days!
