I have shown Lily a few times on 365 but never told you the full history of this funny little cat. She was born in a box next to the Aga on May 10th 1999, the day after we moved to this farm. Brian & Lesley picked this little kitten out of the 8 that were born as they liked her face.
It wasn't apparent until she had grown a bit that she was born with a crooked back. The vet didn't give her much chance but he knew we always gave out animals 100% care so said ' if anyone can rear her you can'!
She grew up fine until the day when she went to asleep on the top of the milking machine engine & Harry went, in the dark ,at 6am to switch on for morning milking & her tail caught in the belt that drives the engine! He felt her bang against his legs & we couldn't find her for two days & then she had to have her tail amputated.
So to cut a long story short she is as ugly as sin but a very sweet natured cat who loves to sit beside the B&B visitors while they have their breakfast.
Lily has quite a sweet survivor story. Clearly your love, affection and acceptance of her has made all the difference. That, and those nine lives she has.
Oh bless her - sounds like the milking machine incident could have been a lot worse... And as the nuns used to say - it's all about the beauty inside!!
@jmj You're right Jennifer we seem to collect all the waifs & strays !!! A problem when we want to go away as we get too stressed about who's going to look after them !
The poor thing! She certainly picked the right family to raise her though, didn't she? I love her color and it makes a great photo against the hardwood floor..
Well, the vet was right about one thing . . you were the right ones to get her. What a sweet natured animal. I think that she's beautiful and am happy that she has such loving owners. The b&b visitors must enjoy her. :)
