You might just need to rotate your hood 90 degrees Pat and make sure it clicks in. Provides an intersting frame though, and what white sheets you have matron!! Nice shot.
Oh my goodness I commented hours ago and obviously forgot to press the wretched button. I said that my hood also appeared at times and I have no bloody idea why the wretched washing ends up in the duvet cover and where do the buttons go?!!
Pat the dark light in the corners is known as vignetting ..it can be caused by 'mechanical' effects i.e your lens hood, but in this case it is more likely to be optical vignetting ..your 'aperture hole' is round, but your sensor is a rectangle, so when you have a wide open aperture (small f number) and quite a wide angle lens setting then the corners can lose light and you get the dark bits.
I looked at your exif data and f5 at 18mm is most probably optical vignetting !!
If it's not vignetting you could have always been 'two sheets to the wind' !!!!
@fannyb fanny, your 'hood' on your pics is probably not your hood but optical vignetting !!! see my essay above !!!!!!!
@phil_howcroft Goodness Phil you do know a lot!!! This all makes sense as I have never used that size of F number before nor have I noticed these dark edges before. I will read your post above tomorrow & I'm sure it will explain plenty. Thank you so much for all this & I'm sure Fanny will be pleased too! I like your 'pun'!!!
Your photo is as bright and crisp as your laundry, Pat! I love this shot. I can imagine how wonderful those sheets smell after drying in the fresh air and sunshine. No doubt one of the reasons you have so many repeat guests!
I think those little dark edges add to this shot...probably would not like it if it happened to all my shots, but this really worked for this shot for me! Love this shot of the laundry...reminds me of when I was a little girl out helping my Mom. fav
