This is the famous Grasmere gingerbread shop. The shop is tiny & believe me the queue was out through the gate when we passed it the second time.
I heard someone grumbling about the size of the shop which is tiny but that is all part of it's charm.
This is also where they make it & you could smell the gingerbread cooking.
It is a sort of biscuit, not spongy at all & quite a strong ginger taste.
I took some photos of the man & girl in the shop but the space was very cramped & the figures were blurry.
@peggysirk We bought two tins to take with us to NZ, I thought it would last for a while in a tin but the guy said one week..whats the point of having it in a tin!! Have taken it out & put it in the freezer on the chaps recommendation so hope its OK.!!! sorry Lesley if you read this , no surprise now!!!!!
That gingerbread is very unique, not at all what I expected when I bought some, still nice though. I love Grassmere too, fond memories of holidays long long ago.
