Morning frost. by happypat

Morning frost.

White frost this morning on the hen cabin.
You can see how much room the hens have to wander about but are very envious of next doors free ones.!
Have felt quite off colour today for some reason, sore neck, sore back & sore knees!!!!
Better tomorrow hopefully!!!

Just thinking about any homeless person who's out in the cold tonight....what am I doing complaining!!!!!

I have just noticed the time on my camera is an hour out so must get the booklet out.
what a lovely great space - my mum's chickens would be jealous!! sorry you're feeling under the weather - it's all this cold and damp and wintery stuff working its evil!!

@sparkle Yes perhaps Juliette I have just added a bit to my comments above....we are lucky to be warm & well fed!!! Thank you for your kind thoughts!!

Very frosty here too this morning but not as pretty as this!

We haven't had our first frost around here yet but hurricane Sandy brought weather that's a bit colder than normal for early November.
Hope you feel better. I can sympathize.

Well I think they're just lucky to be out in the fresh air! Wish we had room for hens.

In my limited experience hens always want more! Ours used to be happy with their run but now they have a much bigger area with logs and trees and compost heaps (that I don't think they are supposed to go on but they spend all day on there) and all sorts, and still they want to go in the rest of the garden! I realised when we saw the hen/horse combo a while ago that they will actually roam for a long way given a choice. Your's look very comfortably accommodated I must say. What happens when you go on your hols?

That looks very cold but bright and crisp. Yes we are lucky to have a warm place to sleep. I hope you feel bettet soon.
November 5th, 2012
Oh I've just read the bit about not feeling well. I think it's the cold - it's making my (much improved) shoulder stiff and sore. What you need is the southern hemisphere!
November 5th, 2012
@judithg He he I hope you are right Judith. Really disappointed my aches & pains so prominent today...have spent quite a bit of money already at the phsio! Your hens sound in clover, logs & trees...they don't know when they are well off! I sometimes think just buying eggs is less hassle but our eggs are so good as I'm sure yours are! no problem when we go away, queuing up to look after them as free eggs!!!!

@happypat That's what I'm hoping - a lot of poo as well though!
November 5th, 2012
@judithg what's wrong with compost heaps? They are nice and warm!!! And a little chicken poo can't hurt, can it?
November 5th, 2012
@happypat This looks quite chilly - despite the lovely sunshine, you are lucky you didn't fog your lens!
November 5th, 2012
@bpaquette No the lens was clear but I can tell you I wasn't out there long ...a quick dash out in my slippers & back in quick!!!! Harry takes his bucket of chicken poo to the cow midden next door & throws it on there & it gets spread on the fields. @judithg

@meisen325 Thank you Monica, will try & go to bed early. Going to the Trafford Centre in Manchester tomorrow so must be fit!!
November 5th, 2012
@jtookey150 Thank you Jean, the old hot water bottle will be out later!
November 5th, 2012
@happypat It goes on our compost heap along with excess apples, lots of leaves, and the hen bedding. I'm hoping for some really good stuff next year! Very tense here - cat and dog loitering with me and everytime a bang goes off they jump. Joys of city living.... Monty's made a nest under our bed - he can only break more rules if he gets on it - Nigel will have a fit when he gets home!
November 5th, 2012
That does look chilly!! Hope you feel better tomorrow.
November 5th, 2012
@judithg Well that is all very stressful for all concerned, bonfire night has never troubled us as we are never near lots of fireworks going off.
When we first moved to this farm we had a communal bonfire with all the usual plus hotpot at our house. All mine are grown up but no one seems to bother organising anything for the young ones now & we have five kids down this lane. All peaceful & quiet here!!
November 5th, 2012
@kwiksilver Thanks Gillian!
November 5th, 2012
@happypat It's been going on for weeks already and then when it stops for bonfire night Dwali will start!! I like a good bonfire though - my neighbour's nearly set fire to the fence last year - sign of a good night!
November 5th, 2012
@judithg Our next door neighbour once pushed his toddler down the field to our bonfire with a £25 bomb in the parcel shelf underneath, we thought it hilarious!!! What is Dwali must look up on google!!!
November 5th, 2012
@happypat Lol - I bet mum didn't know!
November 5th, 2012
@judithg Oh dear fire crackers involved...your poor animals!!!!
November 5th, 2012
Oops Diwali!
November 5th, 2012
Oh dear so sorry about your aches and pains...I reckon its the cold as the muscles contract and ouch!! Hen hut looks lovely and I'm sure they don't look over the fence and comment on the grass being greener etc!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 5th, 2012
Brr it looks very chilly ,we haven't had any frost here , but it is quite cold. Do hope your aches and pains get better. I am doing 365 at midnight because I cannot get to sleep with mine
