Blackpool is a well known holiday resort in the North West of England.
Famous for it's tower & long stretch of 'Golden Mile' beach.
It attracts families as there is always something to do here.
Unfortunately it also attracts hen & stag parties & anyone out for a riotous time.
Blackpool is very unpretentious...what you see is what you get, best out of season for the people who live there I think.
The council has spent millions of pounds over the last few years updating the promenade & it is lovely with long stretches of grass.
When I called for my glasses yesterday the promenade was quite busy & slowly coming to life again.
When we first moved to this farm we were relieved we were so far away & used to continue to shop in Preston but now I have quite a soft spot for Blackpool...it is some of the holiday makers that spoil it.

@judithg Goodness Judith I had never noticed!!!! I also have passed into my 3rd year with out noticing too.....must be enjoying myself so much!!! Definitely a sugar tax...starting on fizzy drinks!
@happypat Fizzy drinks are the spawn of the devil. I have been wittering on for ages that America should ban the 'free refill' and the Mayor of NY has actually banned drinks over a certain size (about the size of a bucket mind you!) and people are complaining away. They also have to display calories above take away food which was a scary eye opener in Ben and Jerry's - some of their shakes were an entire day's calorie intake.
@judithg Wow that is a scary world in USA & of course we follow them usually! I must admit you get so used to seeing large people you begin to think Ok I can have that extra pudding I have a bit before I get that size! Dangerous!
@happypat That's exactly what Rachel says about girls her age - she says the expectation of what size is acceptable has increased and the girls put weight on due to drinking a lot of alcohol but they're all big so they don't care. Wish I hadn't had that square of chocolate now (cooking chocolate as well but easy!)
