This woodpecker has started visiting our bird table just after breakfast every morning...not as clear as I would have liked but this is taken through the kitchen window & cropped.
@barbsmith This is a male Great Spotted Woodpecker Barb, they like seeds & nuts & make their nest by banging their beaks on the trunks of trees to make a hole .In the Spring you can hear them pecking on the tree trunk. Quite common in the UK.
Ha Ha yes Pat, strange we should both see one today, we can hear a woodpecker in the trees at the back of our house but as yet I haven't seen it, the two I saw today were feeding on a feeding station at our local garden centre, outside the cafe area, so quite open really.
