Many a woman staggered through this door in the 60's,70' & 80's about to give birth...Mount Street Hospital. Preston.
Hundreds of babies were born here & it was a nursing order of nuns that delivered the babies very like the Call the Midwife series on the TV at the moment.
A sorry end to the old place.
@busylady Many of the old building s further down the street for instance the old Catholic College are now fancy offices but no one seems to have done anything here Judith.
Sad ending for this building.These old buildings have a old of character and stories to tell to a lot of people. I wonder why they don't make use of these anymore for something else.
Oh I was a bit late with Call the Midwife! What a shame for a great old building. They converted the old hospital in Cambridge into a Business School - I'm sure this would convert into something great.
