Some of you may have heard of Mrs Kirkhams Lancashire cheese or even had the good fortune to have tasted it.
It is sold in all the top food halls & even shipped out to America I believe.
Still very much a family firm with Graham as the main front of selling now, dad John still milking the 100 cows & mum Ruth who is Mrs Kirkham, & Graham making the cheese with just a couple of helpers.
The cheese is made from unpasteurised milk & is regularly featured on the food programmes on TV with visits from Rick Stein etc.
This farm is one of the seven or so small farmhouse cheese manufactures within a 5 mile radius of our farm.
Graham was in Cathy's class at school so was pleased to see us at the Westmoreland Show.
@seanoneill We have seen this cheese grow from very small beginnings to a very state of the art milking parlour & modern up to the minute cheese unit, just shows these little home businesses can do well!!
I have never heard of this cheese ,but it does sound yummy !! and more to the point the whole process of making the cheese within one family unit --Love the cleanliness depicted in this shot --shall look out for this cheese in future.
We don't get Lancashire cheese in Notts Pat !! Does it crumble like 'Lancy' cheese should do ...nice shot with the lady shopper adding a nice bit of real life to your shot
