Thank you all, I have a bigger photo of this but was rather horrified to notice a cobweb or two in the corners....will definitely give this window a good going over tomorrow & I think a paint brush wouldn't come amiss!! I look at it so often that things like that pass you by...not like this in the B&B rooms I hasten to add!!
