A full day meeting two of our B&B friends who live in Melbourne.
John & Dianne have stayed with us several times over the years when they have been visiting the UK.
They took us round some of the sights of their city including this magnificent shrine as they call it to honour their war dead.
We rode on a tram, visited the many quaint alleyways & finally they drove us down the west side of the coastline to their house in Bonbeach.
A very happy day!
Out with Brian & Lesley tonight for more food at a place called World.
Lovely shot of the shrine. It brings back happy and sad memories for me. We stayed in a hotel opposite the Shrine of Remembrance when we first came to Australia before we moved into our house and David worked at Victoria Barracks just down the road from here. It was one of the first places we visited in Melbourne. Finally the sad part is that Zoe's ashes are scattered in the Remembrance Garden at the Shrine of Remembrance, so she has come full circle.
@onewing Oh Babs this must have taken you back, so sorry if it upset you to see this but it's such a lovely place to lie......Harry & I were very impressed with the whole place. We went in & had a good look round specially the crypt....so interesting! There were some cadets on the lawn at the barracks looking very smart. An old veteran came to explain things to us & you could tell he was very involved with every aspect of his job as a volunteer helper. Anzac Day will be soon too!
