Ingenious use of a vegetable >>see yesterday's #3 GT
I loved this cabbage mouse, I thought it was a wonderful use of a veg in its class.
I was sorry to see out of the four entries this was the only one that didn't win a prize!
Haha! Our county fair has a category called veggie people, but they didn't have it this year. Always fun to see what people make. Maybe if the whiskers had been made out of veggies as well. He's as adorable as a veggie mouse can be!
@featherstone26@casablanca@gijsje I asked Sally who entered him what his feet were made of & they are tint little new potatoes carved.
I felt so sorry that it was the only entry with no prize on it! It did look a bit dried up today in the hot marquee.
Use to love doing the veg models at our Ag day at school .. a big NZ Kumera use to be a good place to start.. Seems a bit unfair that they could not reward a Highly Commended prize ..
Aaw ! he is so cute , he surely deserved a prize . The judges suck !! - surely they could have given an equal placement or even highly commended - if only to encourage the competitor to enter in next year's show ! That's what I used to do when judging the craft section in a local shows !
@beryl that's such a good point Beryl. Very discouraging to any competitor. I did notice that if there was only one entry in any class that entry got a first prize no matter how dire it was. If that happened in our Horticultural tent some of the judges used to say that's not worthy of a first & perhaps give a second or third. Time for discussion at top level perhaps, just think if it had been a child!
