Pandanus Trees along Moolooaba Boardwalk. by happysnaps

Pandanus Trees along Moolooaba Boardwalk.

Pandanus Trees occur naturally along the east coast of Australia. Having a stout trunk, wide branching & a thick canopy of leaves they can reach a max. height of 4–10 metres tall & extend to the same width as their height. Pandanus have unique aerial 'prop roots' which are thick and stout, flowers, or fruit, look like woody pineapples. The fruit can be used for cooking/flavouring, but, if incorrectly prepared can cause illness. The leaf fibre is used traditionally to make string & in basketry. Many Scrub Turkeys scratch around & the beaches can be accessed by walkways all along the Boardwalk.
Wow a real vision into your part of the world, looks fab!

What wonderful trees, I've never seen them before. Have you ever cooked with the fruit? Great collage.

@dollycreek No I haven't Christine, Even though it's well documented that the Pandanus is a source of food, flavouring and medicines for traditional cultures, incorrect food preparation can cause illnesses such as stomach pains and diarrhea.
The seeds need to be correctly crushed & prepared. I admire the trees only. Thanks for your comment.
