Valerie, what a bright and colorful find. Are these birds native to your area and free to roam? I see that they are banded on the ankle. I love this shot.
@texastrails Yes Allie, they are free & visit us in our garden. In the evening they screech & fly from tree to tree eating berries & nectar.. The birds in this shot are in a national park. They are banded...Bands are used to identify individual birds. Information gained from sightings or recaptures of banded birds helps to understand their biology, and can help in protecting them and their habitats. Banding birds allows us to identify them, and is one of the main ways that researchers discover fundamental information about birds, such as their life-span and movements. Thank you so much for liking my photo.
@elmay@hermann@beachdog@janewinfrey@kerristephens@demelo So appreciate your comments, these birds are gorgeous & funny to watch, they can be so peaceful & in an instant all be fighting & screeching & a bit scary when they land on your head!!!
