Patiently Waiting ~

For someone to feed them & the waterhen swam round & round making ripples.
I read that bread is really bad for ducks and gulls. They sure like it though.

@louannwarren Lou Ann we often see kids & parents throwing in whole slices of bread. When we arrive they swim straight over hoping for more. Not good for them..

We were told that too - and now no longer see the children excitedly throwing bread to the ducks in the pond! Shame - children and nature are more important

Ducks love chopped lettuce and greens, one can also purchase special seeds for them. That's what the children use here for our ducks in the dams.

bread is the worst thing for wild animals and we are finding now that over the generations many health problems are emerging for birds like ducks that have been fed bread year after year.
I sure like this image and hopefully people if they must feed wildlife will bring things that are healthy for them :)

I think that more people are becoming aware if how bad bread is for wildlife.

@maggiemae @ludwigsdiana @koalagardens @merrelyn We all agree & the message seems to be getting through. I so like the beautiful bird life at the lake.

@maggiemae Surely the health of the ducks is more important. Children can easily be taught what is healthy for the ducks (and geese, swans, moorhens et) and still get the same pleasure from feeding them.

Bread is so very bad for ducks and geese but I do think more and more people are learning about healthy food for them. I love the light in this shot.

@susiemc Thank Sue for liking & I so agree with you.

@susiemc I think you have introduced a good subject for argument! The for's and the against! And in my comment I should have added that the correct food for the ducks can be purchased.
