Chimney Rock by harbie

Chimney Rock

Chimney Rock is near Pagosa Springs, CO. You can take a short hike to the top. A thousand years ago, it was home to the Ancestral Puebloans (Anasazi Native Americans). Later it was a landmark for European explorers and prospectors. There are also Puebloan ruins of a Great House and Kiva here. Modern Puebloan cultures consider it a place of spiritaul significance. The Ancestral Puebloans watched the moon, and once every 18.6 years, the moon rises exactly between the two spires but only if you are at the top. If you are farther away the spires are far apart. Best on black. I am so happy to be able to post with my camera again and not my phone!
Congrats on the camera back! One face of chimney rack sports a face, I so enjoyed reading the history! Great big fav!!
