Climbing to Balcony House by harbie

Climbing to Balcony House

Climbing the ladder up to another of the Ancient Puebloan ruins at Mesa Verde. To get to/from Balcony House (elevation 7,000 ft) you needed to climb up 2 fairly long ladders. Once you are up at the ruins, you needed to crawl through a tunnel to see other areas of the ruins. It was really fun and interesting. The climbing was not hard for us as we live at 7,000 feet, but for some of the people visiting who live at sea level, it was a bit more of a challenge. Thank you for putting Cliff House on the PP and TP! I appreciate it! :)!
One would have to be very fit, and no person with a disability would survive long if not cared for by others.

That looks quite a climb and at 7000'. You wouldn't need to suffer from vertigo or claustrophobia when visiting it

Wonderful POV and shadow of the ladder! I remember the ladder being very hot one time, but that was the only thing that was hard. I'm afraid of heights, and it didn't even bother me. It did make me wonder about the toddlers who used to actually live there.

Neat shot - yeah, acclimating to the elevation takes some doing! Our elevation is 326 ft - would always take us several days to be able to walk around up at the Mesa and breathe at the same time.
