10 Points if anyone can guess what this is! I went with my boss to a small company today that is building a piece of scientific equipment for us (I will be using it). I had to take some shots to document the thing and figured, why not use it for todays shot. Its not the best as I was thinking more of practicality than art, but its still interesting I think.
Feel free to guess what it is, I will write what it actually is tomorrow.
Sorry I was really busy at work today then it slipped my mind until I was working on today's photo.
The official name is an ion-sputter apparatus. The metal container is actually a high vacuum chamber (the door is open) in the lower left corner is the ion gun, which will shoot a beam of Argon ions at my sample when it is running. Coming down from the top center is the sample holder, which is copper, cooled with water. The square thing at the bottom of the shot is a holder for a secondary film holder, as the idea is the parts of sample that are blasted away by the Argon ions will be collected on this film and then later measured.
