Recently we had an issue with a yellow jacket nest in the bottom of this bench on the porch. I was at Walmart (where else?) buying something to do them in for good when I happened to spot this battery powered bug zapper racquet on clearance for $3. How could I resist?! Let me tell you, it has definitely been the hit of the summer. David waged war on the yellow jackets with glee and I have been beyond excited to realize that it also works on the endless waves of fruit flies that invade the kitchen this time of year. It probably doesn't say much about our inner selves but man is that zapping noise satisfying!! Cash likes to go after the moths - he even dressed like an exterminator for this shot - but he draws the line (read as: runs screaming) from the "scary" ones.... :-}
Wait. I am going to check it we have these here in Florida. In the past week, I have discovered "ghost ants" in the cat food in the kitchen, as well as some unidentified winged ant, and Maria has found what she is sure was a brown recluse spider in her room.
