....One minute you're minding your own business, enjoying the sunshine on your beak, and next thing you know some guy scoops you up, shuts you in a cat basket and carries you off in a wheelbarrow. So undignified! But have to admit the new accommodation is far superior to our old place. This duck-house is hand-crafted if I'm not mistaken, and that nice boy has put plenty of water in this tray for us. Now, girls, all we need to do is work out what keeps happening to all our eggs....
You're making some big changes so soon after arriving home! Are you raising ducklings, or are the eggs consumed? I just love seens slices of your country life!
yes, they are our ducks. We bought fertilized duck eggs (you can order them on the internet, of course!) last year as a birthday present for my younger son - he loves all animals - and hatched them in an incubator. They have been at the bottom of the garden making a huge muddy mess, and today we finally got around to moving them to bigger, better quarters at our little paddock nearby where we keep the hens. They only started laying eggs last week - and have now gone into overdrive, so am looking around for recipes using duck eggs - so far they have been great in quiche and cookies. Will see how they work in in Yorkshire puddings tonight!
