I met up with two of my lovely friends, Judith and Zanna, in Cambridge this afternoon. We have known each other since our (now teenage) offspring were throwing babyfood at each other in nursery. Zanna lives in Crete now and so it was great to have chance to catch up.
They have both started 365 projects this year (I've been spreading the word!) so we all whipped out our cameras - to find we had matching panasonic lumixes (or lumi perhaps?).
Having done a whole year of this, you'd think by now, I'd have some inkling of how to photograph people but I am really really dreadful at it. This really doesn't do Judith and Zanna justice, but I wanted to remember a lovely afternoon with this shot. Maybe I should stick to taking pictures of trees.
It depends what you want out of a portrait...if its to please your friends then maybe not, but as a truthful depiction of a warm scene with two close friends it certainly works well. I get accused of being harsh with my pics of people, but for me...its about character and dare I say it art and not making people look young and beautiful!
Yes it was a lovely afternoon and yes we do have great cameras, (cue panasonic lumix advert music), one day I hope I will learn to use mine properly!!!!!!
I'm loving my Lumix (TZ6).
