Today and tomorrow I'm attending a workshop in honour of my PhD supervisor (we are going back many years here!) It was like a school reunion, meeting up with friends and colleagues I've not seen for decades - including a great friend, a Chinese student I shared a tiny office with in our first years as PhD students. He is now a very eminent professor at Beijing University and I hadn't seen him for over 15 years - and many others too. Then there was a fabulous dinner this evening at a posh restaurant, with great food and lots of speeches and nostalgia...phew, it's turning out to be a bit of a party week all round!
This photo has nothing to do with any of that, other than that it picks up on the general theme of student days and graduation. Cycling home through Cambridge after the talks, I had to negotiate my way through the crowds gathering for graduation ceremonies at senate house. I liked the contrast between the two porters in their dark suits and the lady's peacock dress.
What a great day you've had & lovely to see old friends again ! I like the two chaps sitting there & taking everything in, the contrast of colours is good too.
Great fun all round - I went to a similar thing when my supervisor retired - great to see everyone though they all seemed pretty high powered & then there was me! BAD news on the chucks - rotten fox - did he dig under?
Sounds like you had a nice time catching up with old friends. btw I like your photo Was the porter with his hand in the air pulling that face because you were taking his picture ?
I've never seen people wearing those hats here,under what circumstances do men wear them there?I like the facial expression of the man on the right. lol
