I was busy writing blog posts today for my 'blog tour' of various book blogs next week. One of them is about how tricky it is to get the use of current slang and colloquialisms right - the Yikes! versus OMG! problem. I included this illustration as an example of old-fashioned exclamations. It's from a book called That Boarding School Girl which belonged to Grandma (given to her in 1934). The caption below the plate says, 'Goodness Gracious! It's little Doris Frost!' cried Angela.'
You could probably write volumes about all you've come across, Helen! Your picture today is a charmer, and "oh so quaint!", but now I can't get Andy's comment out of my head! Priceless!
