Of all our menagerie of pets I think the only ones who haven't yet appeared on 365 are Will's two long-suffering gerbils, Caramel and Cocoa. When Will had a friend round for a sleepover, they were very quiet for a long time in the morning, I investigated to find that they had made an enormous 'adventure playground' for the gerbils on teh floor consisting of the old playmobile castle and fort, the safari playmat, a Helms Deep model from Lord of the Rings, and all the plastic zoo animals and dinosaurs. I think the gerbils were enjoying it! if you look carefully in the top right hand corner you can see Caramel (gerbils move so fast they are mainly a blur as far as my camera skills are concerned).
When the boys were younger, there would be a permanent set up all over the floor of the house involving model animals and/or dinosaurs in huge battles or migrations or safaris. They don't play with them often now, but I've kept them all out of sentiment (and some of the animals were mine when I was little) and it's great to see them out again.
Oooh - it makes me want a little boy again! Our farm and zoo animal collection is in the loft - a survior of school/charity shop donations. Adam loved and adored the farm although it brought out a bit of OCD - everything was extremely regimented with sheep lined up in size order.... I bet they enjoyed this bit of nostalgia.
