One of the objects we have out in our living room is this "Pneumatic Cleaner" by Regina; it is over 100 years old. You create the vacuum by moving the pole (?) back and forth. The pole is over 3 ft. (1 m) long. The rubber hose has long since rotted away. We rescued it from being thrown out at Gail's Great-Grandparents house.
Retired educator - taught mathematics in high school, went back to graduate school, worked in research labs, and finally went back and taught computer science...
