Abstract Me! by homeschoolmom

Abstract Me!

For my Get Pushed Challenge this week, I was asked to capture "an image that reflects that heart in you. Something that shows an image of what really matters to you. An abstract idea, unlike perspective." So, here it is:

I photographed this beautiful sky today and edited it with some color because my faith is important to me. I believe that the heavens and the earth are God's creation. And as a home schooler, I want to teach my children that the sky is the limit, that the world is their classroom (every opportunity is an opportunity to learn). I made it red, white and blue because I love lots of color and all things Americana, and all of my adult life has been spent around the military,so it is near and dear to my heart. It's been the source of great joy and great hardship, which brings me back to my faith, the source of my strength.

Also works for my f-word for today - faith.
That is gorgeous, well done :)

Why am I humming the Marseillaise?
February 7th, 2014
@seanoneill Does look a little French, doesn't it? LOL! Lots of countries use red, white and blue, I guess.
February 8th, 2014
@seanoneill With the last name of LeFevre (husband's great grandfather came to US via Canada from Paris, France) I am quite familiar with the French flag- which is Blue, White and Red. So this is definitely a picture to which the Star Spangled Banner must be hummed! (o: Of course if you reversed the picture post processing, Marseillaise is just fine!

@homeschoolmom First of all, I am so thankful for your family and the sacrifices you make to serve in our military. It is a common prayer for us at dinner to ask God's blessings and protection on our armed forces. Secondly, you are so right about the strength part of life. I don't know how I'd get through the tough times without the anchor of my faith. And thirdly, although my sons remember more of their school years in connection with public schooling, they both started out in homeschool, which I believe was a huge benefit to both of them. You did a great job here in pulling all those things together! Beautiful words, and great "selfie"!

@olivetreeann apologies for any offence caused. I'll bow to your greater knowledge of flags of the world.
February 10th, 2014
@seanoneill Oh, no Sean- I was not offended- I don't always do well in tongue and cheek on the typing end. Thought the smiley face might indicate that. I have to laugh because France is not my ancestory- I married into it. But I remember the flag becasue of a silly tv show. There were some models who were supposed to walk down the runway of a Paris fashion show in the order of the colors of the French flag but they got mixed up and went in the order of the American flag. So, I confess, I'm no expert per se- but my brain will every once in a while retain some handy trivia information. But truly- you did not offend me at all! My apologies to you for not conveying the humor as intended.

@olivetreeann No problem Ann, the concern was all mine, I've had a tough day!
February 10th, 2014
@seanoneill All the more reason to reassure you all is well- sending a 365 cheer for better days to come!
February 10th, 2014
@olivetreeann Thank you. I just need tomorrow to be a good day, then everything will be fine in my world. :-)
February 10th, 2014
@olivetreeann Thanks so much for remembering our military in your prayers.
