It's sap collection season in NH. Time to collect all that maple sap and make syrup. We saw a lot of these yesterday when we were taking pictures of the covered bridge. We've gotten to do and see a lot of unusual things here in New England this past year.
Love the two different points of view. We have a lot of that going on over here too! They give maple sugar tours at A's preschool. I have a pic of her letting a drop of sap fall onto her tongue. She said it was sweet, but I think that was just her imagination or at the very least what she was expecting it to be!
Hey Lisa, it was sugarin weekend in NH - did you see my collage today? Pretty much captured all the parts! Glad you got to see some taps, hope you get to taste!
@luvmynynix It should be sweet. It's basically sugar water. And the syrup sure is sweet. I would love to see the tour. @m9f9l This is a first for me, too. The syrup here is amazing. I sent a bottle to my sister for Christmas. A few days later, my teenage nephew and his friends went online and ordered more! LOL! Go to www.nhmaplesyrup.com and you can order some. It's worth it! Best stuff ever....and I don't usually like the syrup you buy in the grocery store.
@luvmynynix Nope, it is the sugar. That's the tree's food, all that sugar the leaves made during photosynthesis. There is maple sugar, too. It's really yummy. Tastes like maple syrup except it's granulated like sugar, so it's not as sticky or messy.
Love maple syrup but never thought about how it was harvested. As Sarah said nothing you'd see this side of the pond! I love the textures of the bark and the gentle colours here.
Hi Lisa I'm here to give you your Get pushed challenge. I challenge you to take a collage of photos that tell me something about who you are as a person :)
I grew up reading Little House on the Prairie with its descriptions of this process. Something I would love to see in person. Hope it's a great harvest.
You can do this pretty much anywhere you find sugar maples. There is a person doing this around the corner from us. And of course I've seen it quite a bit where my sister lives in Vt. Good collage!
@lafish Thanks! @featherstone Hahahaha! Hope you get some good pancakes! @lucypics I learned about it in school as a little kid, but it's the first time I've ever seen it. @overalvandaan I would love to try to make it, instead of buy it. It's expensive to buy. @rachelwithey The stuff they make here is really yummy!
Very cool ...I love seeing the sap collector on the single tree and the seeing them in the other image....such an interesting process. Love the home as well. Great captures!
@tracie8266@stimuloog Thanks! @eyesmile Some yards were full of these trees with the sap collectors on them, but this was the only place where we could pull over to take a picture!
