Although it was quite cloudy last night, I managed to snap a few shots of the super moon between breaks in the clouds about 1 a.m. But, now I'm covered in mosquito bites! The clouds were amazing backlit by the moon. (See my picture in my Favorites & Fun Album). Really, the moon has no light, just reflects the sun, so the sun must have been shining very brightly on the other side of the earth.
@candia Thanks so much for the FAV! I had the same issue Monday night., rained all night, no moon. Last night was cloudy, too, but with some breaks. I was afraid I was going to miss it completely.
@elaine55 I used to have trouble too, until someone explained that you have to adjust the shutter speed. I always just ended up with a bright blob. But, by increasing the shutter speed, you can let less light in and get more detail. You just have to keep playing with it until you get it to where you want it. And an infinity focus setting helps too (or manual). You can also adjust the aperture, which ever works best for your camera.
Darn! Why can't I get moon shots like this! Gigantic fav !
A fav.
I have never been able to shoot the moon, must try again sometime.
