With the help of a sister school we started a Hands On Science program for 4th and 5th graders at my daughter's school. The first class they learned about the scientific method. They also learned that science never sucks - the water is pushed up into the glass.
@stephanies This science was fun! The beauty was that the parents do not need to know anything, just supervise the kids. And this experiment is super easy! You can do it at home too... Just have a plate with water, something to stick a candle in (play-dough) and a glass.
You'll will see the water coming up and do not need to worry about the science/theories behind it, because you are not in school anymore ;)
