I did not know the word Farrago. Google says "a confused mixture".
At the homecoming game the band still needed to get back to the stands, when the football players already entered the field. When the players enter the band has to play the "fight song". Trying to be out of the way and turn around to play the band and everybody else in that area was confused. So this might be a farrago - a confused band, with confused volunteers and photographers and some football players.
