We are about to remodel our garage and Centerpoint (electricity company) needed to disconnect the power running into our garage. It took almost 2 weeks (due to the rain and because they are slow), for somebody to come out. However Dino didn't like the man it and accidentally broke the window... My husband was called by the Centerpoint-man. Before rushing home my husband called the neighbor to make sure the Centerpoint-man was not leaving. Dino had hurt his paw and stayed inside. The Centerpoint-man needed only 10 minutes and then my husband took Dino to our vet. The doctors do not work there on Wednesdays, but the secretary was there, printed all the records and found an animal hospital close by where Dino could be seen.
Dino is now at home, with a bandage, recovering from his operation.
In the afternoon our contractor heard that Centerpoint finally came and when my husband told him about the broken window, he was very surprised. It should have been tempered glass. This window was put in about 3 years ago and was apparently not up to code. My husband will now try to claim money back and get the broken and another window replaced.
In the meantime I feel very lucky that Dino only hurt his paw. It could have been a lot worse.
@homeschoolmom - that is exactly what happened. Both our dogs bark and hit the windows for the mailman and the garbage-men. Doing it often might have made the window (double glass) weak. We will replace it with tempered glass.
@henrir@bigmxx@stephanies - thank you all! When I came home yesterday his toes of his injured paw were really swollen, so I took him to the vet again. The wound looked good enough to leave the bandage of, but in order to prevent him from licking it, they put a cone around his head. Poor thing is bumping into everything, but is almost walking normal and the wound has not bled today, as the doctor was afraid, it might a little.
