was a lot bigger than I thought....
After dropping Yelena off at a friend, I did a little loop to pass this mosque. The main road is on the right side of the picture and although you always see the 2 minarets, I had no idea that this mosque went so far back down the hill.
I plan to post a picture from the other side tomorrow.
Did you notice the clouds? Normally we have no clouds at all. The backyard of the house of Yelena's friend is the ocean and they had planned to go for a swim. However, when she saw the clouds, she wondered if it was still OK... Seriously Yelena?! She made me laugh.
@onewing As a general rule non-moslims are not allowed in the mosques. The exception is the Grand Mosque, which has opening times for Tourists. However, at the moment due to Covid-19 all mosques are closed. I believe that just the Imam enters to "broadcast" the prayer through the speakers 5x a day, because I still hear the prayers.
oh, my goodness, clouds!!!! there's only clouds in the omani skies when there's a storm! yes, but not lovely little wisps of clouds like this. most of the mosques are new. i used to live in al ruwi (before hatat house) right next to a mosque so every now and then i do miss the muezzin's call in the early morning. fabulous shot, ingrid. aces!
It is a beautiful building from any angle.
