For today's word "living".
I have had the seeds in water for a long time and 3 got roots. After replanting 2 started to spout and this one has a double spout. They are in the kitchen window and I liked the light on the leaves. After I took the photo I realized it is the first photo of it... but probably not the last!
How exciting. Many years ago we planted an avocado seed and it grew so well that we put it in a large garden pot and then into the garden proper and eventually we had lots of avocados from it. Eventually though we had to prune it back because it just grew too huge for the place it eas finally planted.

Since June I have constantly had 3 seeds with 3 little toothpicks in the water. You need luck and a lot of patience. Most didn't start at all. The ones (3) which did took a long time (about 4 weeks at least) but for those I could see the seed splitting/opening up after about 2 to 3 weeks. So now when we have avocados I still try and throw them out after about a month when the seed is not opening.
