light painting grasses by ingrid2101

light painting grasses

Aaron asked us to challenge ourselves and I've been thinking about that all day - it's been spinning around in my head. I've spent a good part of the evening playing with a torch and I wanted to recreate my polaroid from day 2. this wasn't as easy as I first thought. trying electrical tape to my torch didn't give me the sharpness I wanted. Another limitation is I haven't bought a tripod for my iphone yet. I ended up doing a paper cut on black card and shining the light through. This is NOT my first attempt but it's my last for today - it is 2:36a.m. and this is becoming a bit obsessive. I will be trying more... just not right now.
I was working with painting light tonight too. It was my first time. It was a bit more challenging then I expected it to be. In my opinion you did pretty good. I can't imagine shooting this without a tripod.

@3whiteroses I saw your picture - I love it, you did really well too. The irony is I did this in my darkroom - I haven't used it for film for a while but it's great for light painting

@masosy Thank you :)

Good light, it is truth that you did this picture without any support? At this hour in the morning is really good!

It is - I have a determined streak, I'm already wondering how I can do this more effectively - this has got me buzzing with ideas, much more than I could have expected :)

Cool pic with an iphone! Love light painting but have done it with my other cameras not my iphone. Do you have an app that enables an extended exposure? I am out of the loop. :) You will get your perfect shot yet that you are very happy with - until then, this one is lovely.

I have just recently read about night painting but have yet to experiement. New possibilities are endless.

@heidit It's pretty new to me too but having bought a couple of books on iphone photography my eyes have been opened to the versatility of using it as a camera - the app is called SlowShutter but I'm off to order a tripod as balancing it on my desk was frustrating - grrrr...Fun though :)
@marshharrier - you are so right - almost too many, my head is spinnning with ideas :)

interesting to read how you came up with this shot, I thought it looked like grass. Very nice light.

@primitiveprobe - thanks Andreas, trying to figure out a few new ways of doing this- time-consuming but fun

Wow, I like the idea.... not being a tripod owner, I never knew you could get one for your iPhone.... mind you, I don't have an iPhone either :(

@bobfoto
Ha ha Jason, I have a shitty little digital camera with a miniscule screen that cost a fortune about 10 years ago so it's iphone or film, will hopefully be posting film shots sometime - I'm amazed by what the iphone can do with apps etc :)
