A Van Dyke/Silver Nitrate print - direct contact from a 120 neg, would have used a digital neg but the quality wasn't there - need to learn more PS techniques.
Fabriano hot-pressed paper
exposed for 12 minutes, wash 5 mins, 5 mins in Hypo then final wash for 30 mins
Bye bye filmfebruary - it went far too quickly
This is incredible, and so beautiful Ingrid. I feel like I have stepped back in time to the 19th century. If I stumbled upon this whilst looking through a book of Julia Margaret Cameron's work it would not be out of place. It has fair taken my breath away. Huge fave.
@rg37 Thank you Richard! It's reignited my love for film/alternative processes , really glad you like it!
@seanoneill oh wow Sean, thank you! That really is a massive complement, much appreciated :)
@gwhit123 Thank you George, she was my best friend at college and sadly we lost touch - got back in touch with a lot of my college friends thanks to FB but no-one has heard from her for years .
@aprilmilani Thank you April! I saw this discussion nut was busy and forgot then I got interested in Flickr again to see Dave's work so I have joined the group - more hours please!!
Pretty much what everyone else said, the everything must be super high res world is made a little more bearable by the likes of yourself, Carla and a few other here. Keep it up.
@automaticslim Thank you, sometimes I think I'd like a digital camera then I think I'd rather spend the money on courses like wet- plate. I will post more film but will use the iphone too, very handy
OK, that commentary is double Dutch to me - my loss. But this image is not lost on me. I love the setting, the crop, the composition and the processing to extreme. Faving so I can go back and look at it :)
@szyduck Oh thank you Steve @wendyhgill@cmc1200@rennes@frida@steampowered Thank you all for comments and favs - what a lovely end to film feb - that's very much appreciated. Frida if you google Van Dyke print or method you'll find places that can explain it much better than I can!
Go for it Caryn! @cmc1200
@studiombkcom Thank you! I don't have a proper digital camera Michael! Just an iphone so I'll probably be sticking with film and the occasional camera shot - as I'm developing colour at home the price factor has dropped hugely
what a way to end the month. This is glorious! I'm amazed how you are rock'n it with different mediums, and with developing negs and printing. You are such an inspiration!
@gailmmeek This is Carol, I was at college with her and she was my best friend from day 1, she went on to work as a police photographer and sadly we lost touch. Although I've regained contact with a lot of my student chums no-one knows where she is! I would love to meet her again. She is incredibly photogenic and beautiful!
@seanoneill oh wow Sean, thank you! That really is a massive complement, much appreciated :)
